Zaagselpan

A pan on legs with a layer of sawdust on top. By directing the pan with your hand you can make it sing and shape the patterns in the sand.
On a stove there is a big burnt pan. In a skyblue soup float tiny islands. When the visitor reaches for the pan, the islands come alive. A sound escapes the pan, a tone that changes its pitch depending on the proximity of the hand. The frequency of the sound influences the behaviour of the islands. They form sand banks, fjords and erupting vulcanoes.
